how hard are these to replace the   seals?

Never done one mate. But you want to take it to a garage  :lol:  or put grease in it if its not bad.

If oil is leaking significantly you need to work out why.

It could be that the svivel bearings are worn, allowing the whole housing to move about too much. If so you'll need a new set of bearings.

Or it could be that the swivel balls are rusty, in which case new balls are necessary, along with new bearings.

The actual procedure is covered pretty well in the Haynes manual. Get yourself a copy and read up before you start.

there are quite a few gaskets and oil seals that are needed. I can't list them all off the top of my head, and my filing system is best desciobed as chaotic. It is worth doing the one inside the stub axle even though it's a pain as there's a good chance it will need doing shortly after if you don't.

Getting the ball off the axle is a pain as access to the bolts is restricted. I have a spanner with the open end cut off and a length of pipe as an extender - best tool mod I have done.

Just noticed yours is a 200, you probably have a railco bush rather than a bearing. All the above still applies, but I believe that, long term, oil is preferred over grease to lubricate the railco properly.

Just to add more intrigue. If the balls are corroded (which on a 200 they're likely to be after this time), it'll be cheaper to do an entire front axle swap, than to buy the bits to replace the bushes, bearings, seals and balls.

If you're seals are leaking badly it would be highly likely that the bearings are shot.

If your doing both sides for the first time, expect a rebuild to take a weekend.
