Post by: gtomo2 on May 02, 2007, 13:36:11
Anybody know if they made a automatic vitara as my daughter wants a little 4x4 but needs to be a auto as she will be doing her test in a auto so wont be able to drive a manual box. And i cant find a auto small 4x4

i didnt think you were suppost to learn to drive in an auto :?

in answer to your question, i think there is an auto vitara but you would have to check, if not teach her to drive a manual, there far more fun to drive :P

If you take your test (and pass) in an auto you can only ever drive auto's.

Yea thats the problem she has as she canrt master changing gear. so will be changing to a auto to learn in and do her test in but her licence will only cover her for a auto she wont be able to drive a manual

Firstly:  If she can learn to drive a manual (persistence, persistence, persistence) then she can choose to drive an auto rather than being forced to by licence.

Secondly:  Yes, they made an auto.  I believe they started in 1991 (not sure about this) and are all injection.  I think.

I've certainly got an injection auto here.  It doesn't run (see separate post about TPS) but it exists :)

She has been trying for 6 months both with the instrutor and in my disco but just cant get full clutch control and grear change. So the easy and cheaper route at £18 per lesson is to try her in a auto. And she how she gets on. Hoping it will be easyer for her. and if she does not pass in a auto then it will be back to manual but still would like a auto for her as it will be easyer for her both on and off road as she wants to go laning with her dad.

I think you'll find that a lot of auto Vitara's are imports, the Japanese like autos. But that also means they're usually well specced.
