Title: Tyres
Post by: 90sam on April 08, 2007, 22:37:01
hello all,
Would just like your advice as im looking to buy some mud tyres and rims for my landy. Was just wondering what size would be a good size to get. was thinking 235/85R16 or 265/65R16 or are there any better?
I've been looking at insa turbo special tracks, greenway machos and colway mud terrains. I would only been using them off road so was thinkg of the insas. Any views? or any pics of the different sizes or insa turbos on a 90? Where would the best place to buy them already fitted on rims from? £395 quid for 4 sound good or bad?
Kind Regards
Sam

Both sizes suit a standard 90. i have both.  My preferance is for the narrow tryes but that is just me.......

ive done about 2k on them & they are a soft compound so there is a titch o wear on them,

they might rub depending what rims you have as they rub my eyebrows on mad flex but im on long travel suspension,

Mines are the 265/75/16 which measure up at about 33 tall

i have insa turbos on my 90
i went for 7.50 x 16 and had no problem with them on the last west  midlands green lane run.

My 90 is still on standard springs.

I've got Insas as well, 265/75/16 and I've been very impressed.

Think im going to get them, but they look as if they will rub on the arches? Will i be alright on standard suspension with 265/75R16
Whats the difference between them and 235/85R16 as they are the same pirce. Are they smaller?
Kind Regards
Sam

hey there,
The 90s going brilliant thanks, fitted a radio and a new rear floor. Now starting to get  mud tyres, soundproofing! and a cubby box, so its coming together!

Going off roading on friday the 13th so should be good. But bit scared about the date!!

Cheers
Sam

I have 2 sets for mine. A set of 265/75s which it came with and are now a bit worn so consequently they don't really cut it in the mud. I keep them for general use on the roads and greenlanes.
I also have a set of  7.50-16 s which I use for more serious mud plugging and they rarely let me down. The only times I've been stuck with them on is if I've been too stupid to check out the hazard before diving in.
