Title: which starter motor?

Just Got around to changing the starter motor on my 3.5 v8 can anyone tell me how to tell which starter i need ? ive been told there are 2 types is that right?  :oops:

All i know is that the engine is from a range rover lol couldnt tell you the year or anything as it was transplanted into a series 2a

ive got the old one out and theres some pics in my gallerys of it

it has several markings on it which are...

Lucas 25689e  29 maybe 28 72 (damage to motor) 2m100 12v

76879d 12v er 1980 lucas 19s

lucas 54246937dfhk    ( casting )

any help id be gratefull cheers keith

I know the 3.9s had a different starter, it turns faster.  I'm not aware of any reason it won't fit though.
