Title: Fuel problem Help!!
Post by: JeepJan on March 22, 2007, 19:53:16
Hi' Im new on here. I bought a 1996 Jeep Cherokee TD 2 weeks ago. It was running fine and then earlier this week started being hard to start and then no power. Found out that the seal wasn't in the fuel filter right so had a new one fitted. It runs fine again now but is still difficult to start sometimes. Any ideas welcome!

Are warm starts OK? If it's just cold starts, then check the glowplugs. Remove each one and check on an Ohmmeter. Should be less than 2 Ohms. If it's higher, or open circuit, replace it. They're about £10+vat from your local factors for the VM 425OHV in your Cherokee TD.

It doesnt seem to matter whether its warm or cold. Sometimes it starts 1st time and others it takes ages. Im going to flatten the battery at this rate! Could it stillhave some trapped air in the fuel lines?

replace the rubber type bleed pipes from the injectors as they are becoming perished.
