Title: Car to Van
Post by: redhand on March 17, 2007, 00:02:28
Hi I currently own a 3 door 5 seater and I'm thinking of changing it to a commercial is it just a case of changing the floorpan and fitting a bulkhead.? Is it possible to retrofit the metal panels into rear window openings?

you could probably just blank the rear windows like people often do on 110 station wagons

I'd thought of that. Also could quiet easily get some steel plate and weld in place It's the floor/bulkhead I'm not sure about.

on my commercial the floor is the same as a mate's 3 door 5 seater.

Although, mine has an extension to bring the floor further forward where it would normally drop down for the rear passenger's feet.  It hasnt got a bulkhead, although once I have the new carpet and seats sorted I will be putting one in.

I don't know about Disoc but on the 5 door RRC the floor is flat under the seats, I'd just take the seats out and put plywood accross the floor.

Black out the windows or have black perspex put into the frame and make a bulkhead to suite yourself.

It's different to the 300 tdi bulkhead. The one in mine is solid for the bottom half or so, then the top piece is like a dog guard. Not familiar with the 200 and TD5 bulkheads.

It's for a TD5 so IT may be getting sold again as I've got a 200tdi and didn't check when I bid for it.

got the interior out of my commercial at the moment to fit new seats, took a picture of the interior for you to have a look at but can't find the lead for my phone!

If you can accept photo messages I can send one to you if you like?

I did a similar thing with my three door. After taking the back seats out i found that with a bit of playing with mdf you can build a nice sound system into the passenger footwells that also brings the floor level! ideal for carrying big gas bottles or having a kip!!!

Not set phone up for picture messaging I Need to replace the floor anyway so figured if there was an extended floor available I'd kill 2 birds with one stone.

I'm actually thinking of taking the front passenger seat out and running the floor all the way to the passenger footwell. with some sort of tool lockers underneath it. and a wrap round bulkhead for the drivers section.

Possibly shift the single rear seat to behind the drivers seat
