whats good to stop all those heart stoping sounds when the MT tyres release a stone on the road, you know the one where the stone always goes up and sounds like a shotgun going off in the back, and your heart thumps a little too hard for a second or so  :?
I have a rubber mat of the floor, but wondered what peeps use on the seat box to eliminate some of this lovely sound

im sure ive seen a rubber mat to fit seatbox's somewhere

or theres chequer plate

carpet

or nuffing as it all gets ruined, i run around offroad with no mats or anything in, just a basic 90

then when on road going work just plonk all the rubber back in to make it abit pleasant inside again  :roll:

Wright off road mat sets for seatbox, tranny tunnel and footwells. Is dear but waterproof and works dam well. Doesnt stop the sounds coming from the back though  :(

i found to keep the inside noise down carry loads of useless junk and have a loud stereo!!! 8)  8)

I've noticed this - I wondered about getting some really cheap rubber matting and attaching it somehow to the underside of the seat box /rear arches - ally strip along each edge bolted on should do the job. The seats should hide the bolt heads:-)

This would stop the noise more effectively, as it's preventing the stone hitting the underside "hard surface" of the vehicle. Perhaps I should patent the idea :shock:

I'd glue it, but I think it wouldbe too messy, and a PITA to remove!

At the moment though, I've only got AT's (well, depending on what state they're in when it comes back from the Police compound it's been in since it was stolen) and so I'm not so worried, as I only get the odd stone (usually off my parents drive...)

Problem with the rubber on the outside is, attatching so it stays there, and will have to be in sections as there are the strenghtening spars there.
Will need to make sure it fits very snug so as not to hold moisture.

Think it will need to be something on the inside and chequer plate will probably deaden the noise so will see how much that costs in sheets

Noisekiller do kits for back of LR.
I have just picked up my kit for back of 110 to cut down on wet road noise, and rear axle transmission noise.
Gonna fit it tomorrow.

Wright off road for front, noisekiller for back in my opinion.

You get what you pay for, so if you choose to go the route of carpet for free like i first did, you will find it makes no difference. I will have the noisekiller kit then carpet over the top. Hopefully this will make the difference i require.

go to machine mart - they do metre wide lengths of ribbed rubber matting for  about £12 a metre off the roll- they have different thicknesses too, up to 6mm I think, but thats obviously more expensive.

that ribbed rubber matting is available from any good carpet place (and probably cheaper at you "discount" carpet place) but if you do fit it make sure the ribs run the length of the vehicle rather than widthways cos its a right cow to sweep out otherwise!!!!!!(the vice of experience speaks trust me lol

I painted under the rear wheel box's on my 90 with flat roof paint, it,s thick rubbery stuff that stays flexable so won't crack.
I get more of a duff thud now instead of the pistol crack of old.

I can't remember the name of the stuff now  :oops:

And some more pics. Didn't know that attachm goes from bottom to top...

Got offcuts from local "Rubber & Belts" workshop for about $30AUD.
1. Mud&dirt doesn't stick to rubber, because I spray CRC5.56
2. Noise reduction
3. No dents from stone chips
4. I LIKE my LANDY :) :) :) and look after

I have a pieces of cow mat in the back of the 110. It is about 1 inch thick and costs £35 for a 6x4 sht. The noise is well reduced

its fair enough though that.. couldnt be a more accurate description!!!!!! :shock: our ATs do it all the time. as soon as you get back on the road you get boulders coming through the back end
