Just recieved a 2nd letter from these guys who are investigating a car I used to own from new. They want to know date of purchase, millage when sold, purchased date sold date and to whom blah blah blah. They say they are representing dealer member companies and complance with the trade descriptions act. I sold this car in part ex against my 110 to a reputable dealer.
I didnt reply to the first letter because it wasnt from the police, trading standards or DVLA/DVLC.
I am a always a bit suspicious of unsolicited stuff.
What da ya all recon. are they just the good guys just tring to make the 2nd hand car world a safer place or something else?

I wouldnt personally give them any details. But then who are you going to hurt if you do? It wont be yourself thats for sure.

Dont bother replying it sounds very suspicious. Not even the DVLA can make you divilge info like that so unless you get a call from a plod asking for info dont bother.
-
Its not suspicious and as a motor trader I ask you to fill in the miles and return it, its part of an HPI scheck and you might be stopping your reputable dealer earning a crust.
VMC is part of the due viligance check and will help prevent fraud and clocking.
