Is it possible to disarm the alarm when I leave the dog in the back ?
The central locking seems to have 2 positions, one click on remote locks then 2nd click it makes another clunk, (deadlock ?)
I can't get the dog to lay down and not poke his head above the seats... do I need to buy a hammer for him, or is there a way of locking the car without the alarm going off ?
-
Does it not just lock the doors if you use the key? (rather than the remote). If it's Thatcham cat 1, then I suspect that having the ability to lock the car without the alarm isn't allowed.

The key doesnt seem to do owt .... twist, turn and listen for electrics to kick in and b*gger all seems to happen.... It's a "jeep electrics" thing eh ?
Anyone know where I can get a cheap (yet functional) hammer for the dog? :?: Oh just had a thought... would holding him down with a cargo net work do you think :?:

Cheers for your thoughts Tim
I have tried the driver's door,I will try the passenger door to see if that works.
It's just a standard alarm/immobiliser set up as far as I know. Alane's kindly sent me an owners manual but there's nothing in there to help me with this particular prob.

Barry
I can lock all my doors perfectly well with just the key, it doesn't involve any of the electrics so you don't hear the central locking.
BTW no locking yourself into a darkened room alone with ya new manual!!! lol

Try, www.birtydastardsjeepclub.com. There seems to be a lot of knowledge over there. They helped me out a treat recently.

Thanks both of you.
I figured out that the central locking doesn't work if I use the key in the driver's door so yesterday I locked the other doors with the driver's door button then used the key to lock it, I am not sure if the alarm was set or not ( that dog's never there when I need him).
When I get time I will get the dog or SWMBO to sit inside while I play and try to figure it all out.
The owners manual is helpful Alane, thanks again, but they only talk about the immobiliser not the alarm. Is the alarm just on UK cars do you think ?
There are several helpful tips though... my favourite is the one which tells you that you are liable for any re-painting of the bodywork due to branch scratches etc whilst offroading.... that isn't covered in the warranty

Nothing to see here chaps, everything's sufficiently cool, indeed, if it were any cooler it'd be a convertible with a pair of sunglasses..
