Title: Air Filter Housings
Post by: Yoshi on February 22, 2007, 18:10:20
Is there a difference between the air filter housings on the 3.5efi and 3.9efi?

Just tried fitting one which possibly came from a 3.5efi but its too long :-s

ok, it fits on the air filter pipe as it should do, its just too long to fit in the engine bay by about an inch lol

Are you sure its too long fella? I had mine off recently and it was awkward to get back on but went on in the end. It did look as though it would not fit.

3.5s fit to the VAF sensor (flap) via a short length of rigid rubber tube, IIRC the tube helps hold the filter in place.  3.9s althought the same filter housing support the MAF sensor which clips directly the the end of the filter housing with no other means of support, so the brackets are on the filter.
