out for the first proper play today at slab and broke the front axle in the space of 5 mins, :(
i suspect its the long shaft as i checked the short shaft ,
i do have 10 spline and looking about theres 24, however cvs look strong and i hear the early cvs are stronger.
can i mix match my cvs with some 24 spline shafts or what do you recomend to run, will sort side gears onthe diff if needbe
i reckon i was just unlucky i didnt really give it big guns and it was on sand, i run 33.12.50 kumhos so they arent mega agressive,
i dont know the history of it so could have been waiting to break.
i will drop out the shaft tuesday have a look but i did manage to drive home in difflock with none of the nasty sounds you would expect from a broken shafts, maybe the broken piece retracted abit into the diff so it aloowed it to clear the broken shat,
anyway waffling again , cheers for any imput

well if your 110 is a early 110
it will have......
10 spline shafts, with the strongest std lr cv available AEU2522's
so its a 23/24 spline type cv
however, the only mix and match you can do to go 24 spline shaft is to uprate your shafts to the h/d type
these are avalible from ashcroft transmission's
but you were unlucky
i dont see the need for you change the setup in the front, just stick a new h/s on the end
if your struggling source a shaft, i got about 10 here that i dont use as ive got h/d shafts all round
dont no if that made anysense as i tend to waffle on

Have a look at the number stamped on the axle, if it starts 20l then you have the AEU2522's CVs fitted. They were the strongest fitted by LR.

but wont work in conjunction with standard shafts as they mash up to much, works brill with HD shafts as they snap so much cleaner
