Post by: paul and sam on February 18, 2007, 18:20:02
evening all i have just gone to set up a second fob on my disco and all seems to be ok except  when the old fob is used the indicators flash three times and go off , on the new one (fob) when i press the button the indicators  stay on for around 5 seconds and then go off  the led on the dash seems to be doing the same as the first fob any thoughts on this . i dont know if there is a problem or is it because its a second fob???????

and they say this is ment to be fun :(biglaugh):

I also got a new FOB, but now suddenly both fobs are giving this symptom although not five seconds, more like 2.
But they work.

Hi the ECU has to diferentiate between the two
because the original is set by the factory
and the other by yourself
this is how the fitters know the difference
cheers

Hate to say something different but I found that the reason the indicators stay on for a few seconds is because the battery in the key fob is running low. I only had 1 working key fob and the indicators flashed approx 4 times then 1day when a dog in the car set the alarm off (forgot dog was in car when set alarm   ) the indicators didnt go off. I thought it was something to do with the alarm being activated. It was just a coincidence.

I left it 6 months and then changed the battery and it flashed 4 times again. Then I lent the keys to someone to get something out the car and they dropped the keys inc fob in a puddle and from there on it took me 30mins to unlock the car and never used fob again incase I get locked out!!!
