Knowing Microsoft, that will be the cause.

Can you start in safe mode then do a system restore?

Comfortable with opening the case? If so, after making sure the confuser is turned off and unplugged, remove and reseat the ram and video card. If the contacts have got corrosion it will screw up and cause problems like this.

After doing this, start it in safe mode (F8 ). When booted (assuming you can even get it up..ooo,errr missus... in safe mode) right click my confuser, then click on advanced, then startup and recovery settings. If there is a tick in 'automatically restart', take the tick out.

Then try rebooting into normal mode. With any luck you will get a 'blue screen 'o death'.

For once its a good thing. Hopefully there will be some information about what is causing the crashes. Grab a pen and write down the message and post it up here.
