Take a peek. I need some numbers.
I'm sure if this works Old_Joe could possibly arrange the same up his way.

It will be a St John Lifesaver course, or rather the course that replaced it. Depending on how many come forward and what deal gets worked out it will probobly be an assesed half day course with a certificate at the end.
It WONT be a replacemnt for an FAW course, which you need for work's first aider. Its intended as the basics you need to keep someone alive untill proper help arrives. Datalas has suggested (and I will be asking) if we can add some more common injuries for offroading in the mix (Crush, RTA type injuries, hypothermia etc)

Id be up for that, shoulnt be a problem to get a day off work. but would need a week or so notice 8)

Yep, righto, just give us a date, n ill get it booked off, will have a chat with a coupe of others this weekend and see if anyone else is up for it also,
-
Very good idea, I have my HSE approved one for my job but any course is worth while, it dose save lives.

The British Heart Foundation/HeartStart Wales do a basic CPR/Resus course here in Wales, at a cost of a donation of about £3 per head, basically for their booklet. I know because I am one of their instructors and am in fact doing a course this evening for one of the local WI's.
I am sure that if anyone in Mid Wales would like to make a donation and could find a suitable venue then the same could be arranged.
-
Sounds good to me Graham. Short of any other suggestions for a location, I'm sure we could do it here at the hotel.

I'm a qualified first aider through my work.
It still left me struggling with what to do when faced with a serious head injury, a few broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
The person survived long enough for a paramedic to take over when he arrived about 45 mins later. I got commended by the HSE for what I did and an article was written about it.

=D> well done.

Its a bit more than CPR, see the post in the events section for more info.
This is something that both you huys want and SJA want to run so its likeley that this one will be seen as a trial and we can get them run all over provided we can find local trainers to donate time.
That said I would suggest everyone should know CPR so in the mean time, go for it :)

Most people sit there thinking after they do a course 'OMG what will I do if...' When it does happen the training just kicks in. The HSE course and the course we are looking at is only intended to keep them alive till help arrives. You can go further if you want.
but to put it in perspective, once the heart stops, you have about 3 minutes to do something about it befor ethey are in real trouble, CPR and most lifesaving techniques are simple and easy and they do make the difference.

Once we have a definitive action plan I'll let you know. Any trainers are going to have to be registered and have a trainers 'PIN' to abe able to teach.

Living in Hants seems a shame not to go, keep me informed

Evilgoat
agreed, but we do actually cover a bit more than just CPR.
Narked
good idea, if you can get about a dozen people together I can do that. I also have a presentation I did for a localish Motor Club that could be amalgamated.

Llanigraham:
Cleared it at work, no problems with doing it here. Perhaps do something along the lines of a day of greenlaning followed by the first aid?
-
Narked,
What nights you working behind the bar next week?
PM me.
