Post by: Devon-Rover on January 18, 2007, 00:00:28
Right next on my list is the rasing of the gearbox / transferbox and Overdrive breathers.

Whos done what? I haven't even got a cluse where the Breathers are on the gearbox or the transefer box.
I spose i'll have to drill a holes and tapp them. but where?

Any help very much appreciated.

Rowan.

On top of the gearbox there is a round steel plate let into the aluminium casting. This has a small hole drilled in it for the vent. I opened up the hole and silver soldered a short length of 1/4 copper pipe in.
The top plate on the overdrive has a similar hole (mine had a split pin in it). This can be drilled out and a pipe fixed in.
I took both the lids off so swarf wouldn't drop inside!
I joined the two pipes together with some rubber fuel hose and a T piece then ran a nylon tube from the T piece up to the snorkel.
From memory I think the transfer box is vented into the gearbox? I dont remember adding a pipe to it!
