Post by: v40mav on January 02, 2007, 22:40:18
looking for info for a mate.
has a 2003 citroen and though his battery was dead - put into local garage to fit new battery but when he went to collect later - absolutely dead.  Garage have tried to identify but cannot trace any faults? disconected radio etc to eliminate

There is something causing the power drain - anyone any suggestions or had same problem

sounds like:

Heater fan
Cen Locking
Int Lights
Number plate light
ECU
Fan On Fuse Box ( a favorite on Vitos (new shape))
elec windows
or 101 other possibles

There has to be current drain! disconecting the radio to source current drain is equal to opening the front door on your house to cook your tea!..... ie a waste of time!

remove the new battery.... run a meter over it.....

Replace battery..... run a meter over it...... may take up to an hour to show drain!

take it to a battery testing place, they will safely short out the battery and se if a cell (s) bubble....

Get rid of the pile of french crap and get a Zuke!

I had a similar problem once and it turned out to be the light in the boot,of course you don't see it on when the boot is shut  :!: ,luckily i'm not small and was not the person put in the boot to find out  :D .Seriously though it solved the problem, hope this helps Andy.
