Put a picture of my discovery in my profile so you can see it =]
Would jut like to know how can i remove them grey transfers from the side of my discovery as they are an eyesore! Would a hair dryer do the trick?
And would perspex be a quick fix for the broken sunroof as i need to use it next weekend?
Kind Regards and may you all have a great new year!

Boiling water then remove the residue with thinners.

I tried the boiling water today but tried to put it on with both a sponge and throwing it on but the transfers would not move even thought they had air bubbles. Anyone got any suggestions cause they look even worse now !

I am the Manager of a commercial repair/repaint shop and we have to remove large transfers all the time, the best method is using a paint heat gun but you have to be very careful not to scorch the paint. If we are not going to repaint the area we use a wall paper steam stripper, it won't damage your paint and they will peel off fairly easily, you will have to use a little thinners on a rag to remove any excess glue left over. :D

how about trying an angle grinder that should get them off
if this fails try a hot air gun

I used a steam cleaner to remove the stickers from my previous discovery.
Then used a tar & glue removing solution to get rid of the glue.
A nice polish after and it came up a treat!
It took a while though, there is no quick fix on this job :o

Will try using a wallpaper steam stripper thing tomorrow, are you sure it wont strip the paint as well? Bit worried about that
-
I have never had a problem at work but I suppose there could always be a first!! Depends on the condition of your paint. :D Try Jakes idea first, if they have bubbled up a bit try cutting the transfer and getting a jet wash behind them
-
hairdryer the only thing is dont get the panel to hot or it will distort.
-
yes a hair dryer willwork but a heat gun is better
-
So what would be better wall paper stripper or a hairdryer? For speed, less damage etc etc..
-
Hi,
I used to work as a signmaker
Use either a high power hairdryer or carefully with heat gun, The heat warms the glueand it will let go, If you start on a corner you should be able to take them off in big pieces
Then remove the glue with WHITE SPIRIT :) not thinners  . takes a little longer but is safe
Thinners will take the top layer of the paint/laquer off unless you know for sure it is '2 pack'

Hapy new year all,
Would just like to know how can i remove them grey transfers from the side of my discovery as they are an eyesore! Would a hair dryer do the trick?
Wait until the warmer weather as the stickers are less brittle when air temp is high, maplin provide something called label remover which is safe for panit work. Use this and a plastic scraper which must be sharp! dowse sticker in label remover one area at a time to soften it up before attempting to scrape off the sticker. ruboff glue with heavyduty paper roll, or polishing cloth.
That is how I did my disco I took half the stickers off at Billings in 05.
