Title: broken cv joint
Post by: mudmuncher on December 29, 2006, 09:06:00
hi.... broke my cv joint on my mod vitara (first time out) it has a samui front axle. the question i need answering is do you need a special tool to remove the cv joint from the driveshaft spline ? have a cv joint off a sj waiting. would fit the whole driveshaft but  its shorter on the sj. cheers mudmuncher

cooper hammer. you need to give it a few good hits to get it off , usually  a internal clip then , push the new one on ,

beware if you use a normal hammer you will break it but maybe not the end of the world if it cream crackered anyway

Cheers mate.

decided it will be much easier to fit the complete halfshaft than trying to fit just the cv joint.  Waiting to get back on the road is the hard bit.
