Title: tubular manifolds / exhaust system
Post by: disco-v8 on December 12, 2006, 12:28:37
ok im intending to get just the tubular mainfolds and Y piece to fit onto my disco 3.9 V8 (and get rid of my crappy CATS)

ive seen some cheap rangie rover ones but i need to know if they will fit my disco??????

i also intend making my own exhaust system instead of pay £500 for a rimmer bros one, then ripping it off at a pay and play day!!!!!

come on you guys with tubular manifolds help me out

cheers

If I remember correctly, if your vehicle is factory fitted with cats... you need them for the MOT, in as much as the emissions test will be stricter.

Might want to check that...

depending on the age of the vehicle, you may not need to have cats fitted, but it will nee to apss an emissions test..... I have similar issues with mot'ing my Impreza...... i have another system i bolt on with a cat in it..... ;)

i bought the manifolds from rimmers and then had the rst of it made.
rimmer bros manifolds are not a bad price, the cutom exhauste company wanted over £400 to make a pair, but the rimmers ones were £350.

I'd echo that, the Rimmer ones are made by Double S like the ones most other people sell and the price is dictated by DS.  It will cost you more to have a set custome made, though if you do there are things you could do better, like but cover the mounting bolts up with the tubes for one thing

i had the y piece made as well.
it was made by REBEL POWERPIPES. i had the exhauste tucked right up under the passengerside, and a side exit exhaust.
custom y piece, single straight thru silencer, brakets all SS, £200.

Well a Disco is a Range Rover, so I can't see why not.

I took the cats off my 95 plate Disco when I put LPG on it, I used a RR system from the downpipes all the way back so yes a RR Y piece will fit, I had to weld on a fitting for the sensors.
