If it's got a standard 2.25 Litre engine, then the 2.25 Litre Diesel will be easiest, followed up with the 2.5 Litre Sherpa van Diesel engine.

http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=8638 some pics of a 300 in a 2a which may give you an idea, i have just put a disco 200 in to my 90 and the turbo and down pipe are a tight squeeze so dont know how you would be for room in a lightweight?? if you use a 200 or 300 you will be able to bolt sraight up to your gearbox (may have to re arange the studs) and you will have bucket loads more power although i'm sure your diffs and half shafts will soon realise this too

i didnt think the 300tdi fitted the series gearboxes :/
a 200tdi does tho :)
best thing i ever did to mine. (and my gearbox has been fine so far)

heh, after reading that lr4x4 thread, an earlier flywheel housing makes the 300tdi fit fine!

Stick a V8 in there and Gas it :D
