Title: Land Rover Breakers?
Post by: John T on November 27, 2006, 12:51:51
All you members ( and there are a few out there    )

How do you get round the legislation of having to be a licenced salvage dealer?
I have a 300tdi disco that has a front end shunt, and to be honest isn't worth repairing so I thought I would sell the good bits off.
But the question is, what do you do with the V5, is there a way I can legally break it, or have those days gone. There's plenty on forums breaking vehicles, but are they breaking the law??

as long as its in your name I dont think there is a problem - sure it applies to more than 1 vehicle

I was at a breakers today - seemed to be more oil and petrol swilling around now than there ever was before the regulations came in

as far as i know, theres a bit on the V5 that you can tick to say that the vehicle has been dismantled....

if you are going to break it, theres a few bits i'm after...

just send the v5 back declaring it as scrapped. then sell the bits.
