I have always found this site useful for ferries.

Are you a seasoned bike traveller?

:) :) I certainly am Att...over the years I've travelled as far as the Russian border,Bosnia,Croatia,Hungary and all Countries in this region....I'm now planning on going North,up to the circle etc...

Nice, I have not ventured that far east in Europe, but did a few countries this year.
I was saying to my wife that I would like to do Norway, Arctic Circle etc next year, but have just bought another house that needs a bit of work, so we will be doing Scotland this year.
Which bike do you use for your touring?
-
:o :o Hi Att...I have 14 bikes between my two mates and myself...the bike I use for long distance touring is a Honda Deauville...650 twin shaft drive...it's a great bike for long distances...my record for miles covered in one day is just short of 700,that was from Poland, through the Czech Republic and into Germany...a great days ride but very tiring....

I have used lot`s of different bikes for touring, but have been using the Aprilia Caponord for the last three years...Old age creeping in and the need of comfort on long distances in the saddle
Got knocked off it this year in Belguim, it is still in the shop being repaired....Three months so far
So I bought a low mileage Pan Europen in the mean time....The Aprilia will be pensioned off, this Honda is the dogs whatsits :D
My longest single leg this year was Pompei to Nice in one day
Worht it though, just to get away from those mad Iti`s
I will be interested to read of your trip north once you have done it.
I had a friend 6 years ago who just hopped on the ferry and did the Arctic Circle on a GS1150.....He loved it, no planning, nothing, just said goodbye to the wife, went on two weeks leave by himself.....Said the people were lovely.

You won't regret going to Norway. A truly beautiful country.
Are you heading up the west coast? If so, you will be using lots of ferries! But worth the effort.
You just *have* to ride the Eagle Road north of Geiranger. 13 hairpins in quick succession if I remember correctly :D Drove up and down that 3 or 4 times in the MG Midget  And Geirangerfjord is one of the most stunning with near vertical sides rising some 1000 feet. And it has the Seven Sisters waterfall. One of the highest single drop falls in Europe.
We were there in late May (many years ago!) and the snow was still 10 feet deep at the side of the roads on the mountains. Yet we were in tee shirts it was so warm. All you could hear was the cracking of the ice on the lakes. Not even any birds at that altitude. Truly a lasting memory.
I am envious :)

Norway is cool, i went to nordkapp via southern sweden, we used the ferry from newcastle, it is pure misery on the boat but worth it.

Ferry from Newcastle to Bergen - actually not a bad sailing & plenty to see and do on the way up to the Artic Circle.

If you go fjordline pay for an upgraded cabin, the cheap ones are tiny with no windows and hot as hell.......

I've got loads of pics, but it was so long ago they are the ones on paper.... and my scanner is in the loft! Go Terry. You definately won't regret it.

:) :) Thanks for all that everyone...I certainly am going in June next year...the only problem I'm having now is booking via the web...I don't know who designs these things but they're not user friendly...I'm going with two of my friends and naturally we have 3 motorbikes but you try and book the 3 bikes on their web pages and it wont let you...it looks like that I may have to ring the Company and get charged an extra £10.00 because of their inefficient Web pages.....oh well
