Title: Power steering box leeking

Just had a call from the garage the have fitted my steering drop arm but

the sterering box is leeking have not seen it yet so dont know how bad its going to be  
they won't fit a seal  kit      have had trouble doing it before

how hard is this as there is nothing in the haynes about it +
removing refitting but not seal replacing

opinions welcome

How many bolts are there on a powersteering box on a 200tdi could anyony have a look for me cheers

Normally they are fitted with a 4-bolt box

was going to buy tyres but could be a PAS box instead

Just looked at those auctions.

The 3 bolt units have different fittings on them.  As far as I know.. the 6 bolt boxes are interchangeable with the 4 bolts as they both have metric fittings on them.

They will charge you £100 more and give you the £100
back on return of your old steering box.. :wink:

Tony, I was going down that path, chickened out and got a replacement box instead, depending on how bad the leak is there may be an alternative

Gimme me a  ring I'll explain it

i had a leek on my pas box and this stuff helped out
LUCAS POWER STEERING STOP LEAK
its from USA but i got it from e-bay
reduced the fluid leak by 75%  :D

I've bought a bottle of this stuff too to see if it makes any difference, wasn't sure if it was snake oil or not, but for the sake of a tenner compared to a new box and pump I thought I'd risk it!

Slick 50 do something similar... you can get it in Halfrauds and the like AFAIK

this is looking good will be going to garage tomorow armed with fliud and some stop leek

this getting better
