Title: Dashboard Glare
Post by: roscoe on November 02, 2006, 13:57:04
Shiny dashboard and low winter sun means lots of glare on my Freelander windscreen. This is not conducive to safe driving!!.

Can anyone recommend anything to combat this?

OK,

Clean it off with a foam cleaner to remove any silicon dash shine.  This can build up over the years (even if you never used it), aslo had grease etc is a bit shiny.

Clean the windscreen inside (meths is best) , this will help

Use some of the "non slip dash matting" that keeys phones/coins in place, as a cover.

Use sticky velcro to keep some felt or similar over the shiny bits

Big solution would be to get the dash sprayed with "flocking" like a rally car dash.

Only drive at night (sorry)
Drive in the daytime, but keep your eyes closed (Very Sorry)
Drive everywhere in reverse (Really Really Sorry)

I find a solution of dilute accetic acid (vinegar & water) does the trick of cutting through the traffic film on the glass without smearing
