any free ones out their?

i am at a lose as i aint got a clue when it comes to this but i want to get some protection on my new laptop

Post by: paul_humphreys on October 16, 2006, 19:26:07: Free ones Zone Alarm and AVG do ok. I run a hardware fire wall (in router) and Symantec AV. Why, because they are booth good.

Post by: Sharpshooter on October 16, 2006, 20:30:48: Go for AVG free edition. It is fantastic. Got to www.grisoft.com and look for AVG free edition. Dont forget to update it. Which is also free. :)

I also use zone alarms free and its never let me down yet.

Post by: dave_2A_2.25Turbo on October 16, 2006, 21:07:43: I would also suggest AdAware (Lavasoft) and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both free, and between them they catch most crud. I use them with AVG (free edition) and Router and Windows firewalls

AVG for anti virus
ZoneAlarm for a firewall

AdAware and Spybot to periodically scan for spyware/adware on your machine

and its all free for home use :)
