Plasma is the brand name used by Ruftracks (http://www.ruftraks.co.uk/) so they are the best people to speak to.

David Bowyer (http://www.dborc.co.uk/goodwinch/) sells it as Dyneema, Discoparts (http://www.discoparts.com/asp/products.asp?CatID=24&SubCatID=40) as Diamond Winch Rope and there are plenty of others.

You can also find it on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Plasma-12-Synthetic-Winch-Rope_W0QQitemZ270029619211QQihZ017QQcategoryZ123703QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) from time to time.

As to who is cheapest, you've just got to shop around and you'll find they are pritty much all within a pound or so of each other.

You're right Mike (as always !), I mailed Andy last night about the possibilities of using Plasma on my hydraulic winch, and he's right on the ball - trouble is, we think I need 150' - 170' of the stuff

BTW - can you use standard snatch blocks with Plasma ?

Yes, but you need to be careful it doesn't get trapped between the pulley and the frame.

I was quoted £270 for 100 metres of the stuff a couple of weeks ago.  Its spooled so you'll need to fit your own hook and securing eye.

£270 will get you 100' of rigged 14mm, according to their website.

Ruftracks normally supply the Plasma Rope rigged with an eye & hook on one end and small securing eye on the other, plus you get a protective sleeve. They will sell it off the spool as well if you want to rig it yourself.

You get what you pay for.
I know Plasma is expensive but I wouldn't go back to wire rope again.
If you want to save a bit on the cost why not wait for a show and get it there, that's what I did.
