Hi Guys, just like to say hello and ask My first question.
I,ve Just fitted HD standard springs with std shocks to my 94 200tdi, to compensate for my hd bumper, rocksliders and tank guard. Would the above tyres fit without a Lift and if so how much cutting would a 5 door need. I know a lift would be prefered but i've just spent the money on the other springs and shocks.
Cheers.

i think you will struggle without a 1"lift minimum with those tyres. I have a 2"lift on mine and still had to cut a fair amount out of the arches even then. You could try fitting spacers under the springs and lowered shock mounts/turrets so as you can still use your standard components but you will still probably encounter problems.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news

if they dont fit i will look after them for u

hi question for neil i have just put bearmach lifted springs on i notice you have put bigger springs on the back , my springs were idenitical size. ome springs seem to supply there kits with bigger rears .i can not make my mind up if my disco sits level or optical illusion with the front arches being higher.
what was the reasn for your extra inch rears? ta glyn.
-
hi mate, the springs are all the same height. The reason for the extra inch spacer under the rear springs was so as i could fit my +2" shocks as it had lowered shock mounts on. I have since removed the spring spacers at the rear and fitted standard rear shock mounts. I must admit i thought it did look better with the extra inch at the rear but with the +2 shocks there wasn't enough travel on them.
Glad you pointed out on my spec. (didn't think anyone bothered reading them) i will alter it now
thanks

thanks for prompt reply neil i will stop worrying about mine now ta glyn.

Cheers Neil,
I had seen some reference to the use of spacer as a solution, however have had second thoughts after reading variouse articles, i recon the disco would labour a bit with those boots on as it slows on the motorway hills already. am thinking about 245/75 MT either BFG or SST. Any othe makes come to mind.

I have made a decision and purchased a set of 245/75R16 KUMHO 834's, I think they shouldnt upset the performance too much and give an extra 20mm under the diff to clear the qt guards.
-
I have 235/85's on mine with a 2" lift, extended bumpstops and dislocation cones on the rear. I had to chop a lot out of the arches and the tyres still caught a lot at the front of the rear arch under full articulation. I managed to pull both side panels off the sill mounts. Without a lift i think you will struggle unless you fit flared arches, but i'm only guessing. G

Sorry, should have read your last post, i see you have bought tyres. G

Nice for the input anyway G, Seemed to be too many £'s flashing infront of my eyes for the big tyres at the moment, i'll see how i get on with the245/75's for now, cannot be any worse than the 205/80 AT's i have at the moment.

I ran BFG AT's in 245/75R16 for about two years, didn't really have a problem with them although I did get hung up on the diff's once or twice going through Defender sized ruts
You'll probably need to do the camel cut on the rear of the rear arches to accomodate them - some good info here:

Cheers Chris,
some good info on that site, dont think i'll need the 4.4cm cut though.
