Title: defender bonnet scoops - BOB696 & CO
Post by: AbyssDJ on October 02, 2006, 12:53:40
i found them... gave the guy at innovation4x4 (that dreadnaught110 mentioned) a ring...

£58 delivered to ya door next day. apparently they've been at all the shows and they've only sold one!

he's going to get it put onto the website... its not been updated for a bit as theyre arranging a new show, the website is www.lrshow.co.uk, its being finished at the moment, but he says it should be as big as billing.

so anyway, £58 delivered - we're having one when we have a spare £58 :D

edit - ps. for those that are wondering what the hell im on about, look on dreadnaught110's bonnet :)

nope it helps to cool the engine... dreadnaught110 fitted his after a head gasket went, and because they apparently overheat at the back of the block - fitted that, and all is good :)

:D It fit's nice as well,it sits well on the bonnet you have to cut out the front for your own holes i did it by using a hole saw did 2 holes about 3" between them then cut between, did 3 like this to get the effect i have put mesh behind it as well! 8)

The only problem I can see that if you are wading (fully prepared with rad temp blocked off etc) and the water goes over the top of the bonnet (as it quite often does) then it will be channelled along the bonnet (the shape of which is perfect for this), in through the scoop and straight onto the back of the engine, bulkhead etc.
Problem?

:) No worse than what comes from the fan up etc.. you could always sort out a flap to block it off, mind you with land rover panel fit you get as much under the edge's of the bonnet i have been deep wading and not had a problem??

Air flow... unless you are doing 200mph wouldn't do much IMHO....

Does look quite smart though, Llama4x4 used to do one of them too i think, but no longer on the website.

i reckon you'd have a bit more than airflow to worry about anyway at 200mph in a defender :D most likely the lack of airflow... and the low pressure behind it... all the air would be stuck infront of it :D
