i know they did a 1.8 sport over there.

1.6 8v Carb was the smallest
I beleive there is a 2.something V6 kicking about in the states.

Over there the Vit doesnt exist its :

Geo Tracker : Beleive there is a version with the 3cyl Turbo Swift engine otherwise 1.6 8v CFi

Suzuki Sidekick : 1.6 8v CFi. I've had two of these in bits and they are identical to the Vit

Chevvy Tracker : 1.6 16V CFi and I beleive a V6 of some type, this is probobly the 2.6 V6 MPi from the GV260 at a guess

Pontiac Jimmy : 1.6 8V CFi

They dont have the SJs but do have the Sammy and I beleive theres a load more GV options than we have :)

X90 is common as muck over there, more so than the Vit clones.

That might be the 3 pot Swift turbo engine.

the vitara sport in the usa had a 1.8ltr engine fitted.
but they were quite rare.

little tip for you the suzuki baleno engine is the same as the vit engine.
i know cos i have the 1.6 version in mine.
if i had know beforehand i would have fitted the 1.8 instead.

ian warren waas doing a v6 conversion in the ultimate vitara a few yrs ago but it never got finished so as tony says anything is possible if you can fit a v8 in an sj anything goes.
for reference thou a jag v12 will just about fit in a vitara if u take out inner arches!!!

the 1.8 and 2.0 engines have a different bellhousing flange and are not a straight swap like the 1.3 and 1.6 are
