Post by: muzzer on September 27, 2006, 17:08:26
I need some help.
my clutch went three weeks ago.and a friend of my wifes knows a machanic but he has let me down. so I have found a new one to do the job.he rang today to arrange pick up,and informed me there is a chance the fly wheel is knackered.and it will cost twohundred and fifty pound for a new one if it is knackred,I have never heard of this, is he trying to do me for more money by telling me he has put a fly wheel on when he hasn't.

He may be assuming it's a dual mass flywheel version (fitted to TD5).
They have a tendency to break up internally, and if not replaced at the time of the clutch will kill a new clutch very quickly!  :?

Tell him you'd want to see the old parts before you'll hand the cash over. This usually puts a stop to this type of easy money makers tricks
