:) Finally got clearance to look for a 101:D depending on the sale of the 2 series landys  but i havnt a clue where to start looking for one or wat to look out for. My intentions would be to convert into a camper instead of buying a caravan so i guess a ambulance body would be a good start. any help would be nice fellas :)
already got the spot on the "new" drive just to park him... gotta keep the neighbours happy its either 2 88"s a disco and a freebie on the drive orrrrrr a 101, disco and a freebie :) oo and dont forgot the space ive saved for the sankey trailer that will be appearing with it

They pop up in the usual places (Autotrader etc) but the 101 Club website (http://www.101club.org/) usually has a selection.
In terms of stuff to look out for, it's the usual really - well-running V8 (unless you go for a diesel conversion, which is not a bad idea), rusty chassis, slack transmission, lousy swivels (they're welded to the axle on a 101, so are hard to replace), electrics. The front prop shafts are always noisy, so don't let that put you off.
There's also a 101 Yahoo Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/101) which contains a wealth of expertise, so suscribe to that and you'll soon be up to speed.

:D thanks david very usefull indeed :D

No worries. By the way, a quick word on spares: most of what you need you can still get from the usual sources (for example I got all my brake and clutch spares from Brookwells), as the 101 shares something like 70% of its components with other models. There are a couple of specialist dealers such as Blanchards and Dunsfold who quite often have the more obscure stuff.
For everything else, the Club remanufactures bits and pieces when required, and is an excellent source for stuff you just can't get elsewhere. There's nothing really on a 101 to be frightened of replacing, although if you want to keep one in concourse condition it gets a bit trickier.
And remember, it's always fun in a one-oh-one!

I should also have mentioned... if you want some ideas on how to do a really, really nice camper conversion, have a look at http://www.101fc.nl/

Dude, you're welcome to pop around and take a peek some time, I'm in North Staffs so not a million miles away.
Probably the best time of year to buy as interest will begin to drop off now.
Get one thats been gutted already, theres a hell of a lot and I mean a HELL of a lot of stuff in the back of an Ambi, It'll probably speed your project along by about 3 months I'd guess
If you click on my banner there are a few other 101 sites on my links pages.

Of course Nick Kay may do you a deal on your existing Landies and has a few 101 Ambi's in if his site is up to date.

There seem to be a fair few 101's appearing on ebay too so keep an eye on there in addition to the club and the yahoo list.

To stop you getting loads of "how much" emails from people who can't afford it anyway - have you a guide price in mind?
-
Yes £10,000 but I'm willing to haggle
£4500 is the asking price as he stands, closer I get to finishing him then that will go up, Once he's finished he'll be in one of the glossy mags for sale, Last one I did and put in a glossy mag sold in the first weekend and I got calls for the next 3 months.
Remember this is a truck with a lot of history, the first RHD ambi and also a truck which isn't going to depreciate in value.
