Milners Deuce (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ep5aBSD5BQ)
I'll qualify that statement by saying it's the 'Coolest US (produced) movie car, hence leaving the way clear for the 'Bond DB5'
-
No, it has to be the A Team Van.
Purely, because it could go anywhere, and you didnt know what they would bring out of the back of it next.
-
No it has to be Mad max and the supercharged V8 Ford XB Falcon "Pursuit Special," it is just the coolest car

That's why I stated US (United States) movies
As far as I know?
There never was an 'A-Team' movie (bar perhaps a 'made for TV')
So John Milners (played by Paul Le Mat) Deuce still carries the crown.
Unless Bob Falfas (Harrison Ford) 55 Chevvy (with its 454CI big-block) sneaks up on the outside
Possibly the best ever soundtrack as well????
(contains the worlds greatest DJ :D :D :D )

She'll possess you. Then destroy you. She's death on wheels.
How do you kill something that can't possibly be alive?
Hell hath no Fury...like Christine.
-
'Christine' (58 Plymouth Fury??) was a standard production line car, Milners 'Deuce' was evidently a custom build & is still the coolest :D

The 55 Chevy from Two Lane Black Top MEAN  8)
That's actually the same Chevvy as driven by Bob Falfa (Harrison Ford) used in 'American Grafitti'.
Co-incidence or what?
They had 3 cars, one had a full-race 454CI :D :D :D :D
James Taylor (the singer/songwriter) & Dennis Wilson (Beach-Boys) were the driver & mechanic of the 55
Warren Oates was in the 'Goat' (Pontac GTO)

the V8 intercepter from mad max is well deserved second (what was the make of turbo charger by the way :?: - one for you BTM I think)
then in 3rd place the blues mobile - just for the shear character of the car
as for british film cars - bonds aston from goldfinger
not a film as such but Patrick McGoohan's caterham 7 from the prisoner series
and the pink roller from thunderbirds (the original series)

just found this for you
The supercharger is made by Weiand (pronounced "why and"). They make twisted-vane, roots-style superchargers for many after market applications. The system uses a GM 6-71 case as the base, and a Scott injector hat at the top.
On the movie car, this was all faked. The supercharger was empty and the carburettor sat inside. A small water pump was attached to the front of the supercharger to hold the drive wheel, this also moved the supercharger belt forward to clear the standard 351 water pump assembly, and the distributor has a 90 degree elbow to allow it to clear the supercharger. The supercharger belt is driven by an electric motor which is hidden by a yellow bucket in the garage scene in MM1. Weiand never had a supercharger that could be activated and deactivated. Even with huge compression it would be tough to generate 600bhp on a 351 in 1974 without rebuilding it once every couple of hundred miles.

That 1968 Mustang GT390 is a beautiful car & a style icon (the colour is called 'Highland Moss')
the V8 intercepter from mad max is well deserved second
Peter Nelson over at the 'Cars Of The Stars' museum in Keswick has the original car.
He's refused numerous offers to take it back to Oz to exhibit it, as he reckons it'd get impounded as a 'Cultural Icon' & not be allowed back out of the country.
He's also got (amongst many others)
FAB 1 (that is bl**dy huge!!, it's based ona Bedford 'Chinese 6' coach chassis - like the one in 'The Italian Job')
'A-Team' van
'General Lee' (genuine Warner Brothers car, not a replica)
'The Munsters' Car
'Magnums' Ferrari 308
'BatMobiles' (3 of, a TV car, the Michael Keaton & Val Kilmer movie cars)
Lots of James Bond vehicles
as for british film cars - bonds aston from goldfinger
not a film as such but Patrick McGoohan's caterham 7 from the prisoner series
and the pink roller from thunderbirds (the original series)
See above for FAB 1
The Prisoner car is a Lotus (they still made them at that point)

Pasted & Copied (bold type is my addition  )
If you are an aficionado of Sixties TV or remember it as more than just a summer of love, then the opening scene of the cult TV series ‘The Prisoner’ with Patrick McGoohan speeding through deserted London streets in his iconic Lotus Seven is firmly fixed in the mind. The Seven was chosen to fit the personality of the character as something out of the ordinary and individual that would make him stand out from the crowd; quick, agile and independent, it was a statement of freewill. And so it has remained over the 45 years of the car’s production: a unique and personal driving experience that is now set to become even better.
Caterham took over production from Lotus in 1973[/i]
Isn't it on a 'C' plate as well by the look of it??

There was an English film shot in the 1970's which featured a chase scene comprising of a a white 2 door Range Rover with blacked out windows chasing and generally terrorising another car (possibly a Jaguar), chasing it around the countryside, smashing through green houses and driving through rivers.
My Dad had a 2 door Rangie at the time.
I thought it was the coolest car ever!
(i dont know the name of the film but it's probebly a stinker)
Thus began my love affair with the green oval.

Wasn't that Calum with Edward Woodward. If I remember rightly he was terrorisong a bad guy by constantly driving cross country to get in front of him.

Ahh the weiand supercharger, 6-71 (?) of boost, great bit of kit, had one back home, but never got around to using it, some of my friends had them on their cars, and as said the engine needs to be totally rebuilt to handle them, they put massive force on the bigends, they also have a habbit of stripping the stiuds holding them on, and if you have ever seen one come loose you understand why they have straps over them to keep them from flying, i thinik it actually part of the MOT/law in NZ that you have tohave them strapped,
A friend of mine built a hot rod back home, a ford pop, and he decided to use it for pro street drag racing, he had a super charger with NOS aswell, damn did this thing fly on the street aswell as the strip, only problem was fuel consumption, when it was built, the damn thing wouldnt start, it had two 1" fuel lines with two mallory blue pumps on each line, got it into a drag racing workshop, they tinkerd and came to the conclusion that it wasnt getting enough fuel, demonstrated by pouring aviation fuel straight into the buisness end, and it started fine, he ended up with two 3 inch fuel lines and three pumps per line :O
It ran low 11 secs on the drag strip on street tyres, last time i saw it befor i left NZ he had got a set a hozziers on it in an attempt to get better traction.
But man this thing was a rush to ride in, when the NOS kicked in, you new you were moving.. and the sound of the engine, small block V8 through straight headers........
Cheers

Yes, especially as the Yank special-effects/custom-manufacturers said it couldn't be done, but the Brits sorted it out

That particular one has a GM Ecotec 3.2 V6 installed FOC after Tower Chrysler blew the original up.
PRV 2.6 V6 is underpowered for something that weighs in about the same as a large family saloon and roumour has it that they chose 88.8Mph as on a standard one its not an acheivable speed. Handling bites, gearbox was like stirring a bucket of bricks, I could go on...

Apparenlty MgHoohan went to Lotus himself for the car, IIRC it was featured in Dangerman? the forunner to the prisoner, don't know as I've never seen it, but anyway, Lotus offered him the Europa, or was it the thing they had in the Avangers? anyway, He saw the 7 and decided that was the car so he bought it.

right ok I'll rephrase that then - it was a LOTUS not a CATERHAM 7 -
The original KAR120C was provided by Caterham Car Sales, the main Lotus distributor, and was their demonstrator. After ARRIVAL it went back to it's day job and was eventually sold. The distinctive number plate was retained by Caterham because each hand-assembled car was re-worked and re-registered to the new owner. Subsequent demonstrator vehicles were therefore probably all KAR120C. The vehicle used in FALLOUT is significantly different to the one in ARRIVAL.
As filming of THE PRISONER progressed, Caterham supplied a mock-up KAR120C each time it was required.
The Prisoner: Episode Seven
Many Happy Returns
PRISONER: Whats the number of that car?
MRS BUTTERWORTH: Terribly interesting
PRISONER: KAR120C What's the engine number?
MRS BUTTERWORTH: Do tell me
PRISONER: 461034TZ
MRS BUTTERWORTH: Marvellous
PRISONER: I know every nut and bolt and cog. I built it with my own hands.
MRS BUTTERWORTH: Then you're just the man I want to see. I'm having a good deal of overheating in traffic. Perhaps you'd care to advise me. Come in ...
Well that solves that then!
Best movie car? The time travelling Series 1 which appears (fleetingly) in the closing scenes of Ice Cold in Alex.

Hi all, just caught up and a great thread!
However, I must put my vote as Christine as already suggested. And a correction if I may be so bold....
[Puts on obsessive-compulsive-disorder anorak]
Christine in the movie was billed as a '57/8 Plymouth Fury and it was not a standard car as suggested!!
Plymouth never made a Fury in red for a start, it only came in sand dune white for 57 and buckskin beige for 58. It had a gold grille and two-tone interior.
The toredor red / iceburg white paint and similar features where only available on the Belvedere's and Sport Suburbans of the 58 Plymouth range.
Christine's interior was completely custom, as was the engine, as whilst it was available for the 58 Fury and Belvedere, it was not dollied up with chrome from the factory!
IN the book and to a degree, the film, it was evident that Christine was a custom special request, specifically order with the colour spec, etc. Although I doubt at the time Plymouth would have done this service on the standard production car as filmed, but that's Hollywood licence!
[Takes off obsessive-compulsive-disorder anorak]
In answer then to the question, Christine as decpicted in film, a custom 2-door 58 Plymouth Fury in toreodor red and iceburg white with two-tone red and white interior, custom trim, 350cui V8 IS indeed the coolest film car ever, period.
Oh and the fact she is possesed and kills your enemies is even better! The scene of Moochie's death is the coolest revenge scene ever. And a final note, if you have only ever watched the movie, which incedentally contains some superb lines, then please read the book by Stephen King. The depth of the story is ten-fold and the car stuff is magic.

I've got a MkIII for sale that just needs an engine/box and a repsray. I'd cut it up but it's too solid to scrap.
Julie prefers the MkI, so that's the keeper
-
I forgot to add to my Christine post (and she is still the winner of this thread!), if I had the room I would gladly chop my landrovers in for one and that's the only car you will ever hear me say that for.
Christine clones are getting more common, but I would prefer one in original form or in this paint job which I have to see is close to giving me a boner!!!!  8)
