iff it is burning its own oil like said already they normally rev to destruction, another thing that can cause this though is a blocked or clogged air filter. unless yourve already checked have a quick look. iff it is blocked its natural for a deisel to try and find air somewhere else .so it drags up oil from the sump via breathers etc. good luck. alan...

Thanks Alan, its not smoking when it does it so dont think its burning its own oil.
The air filter is new.
When it runs it runs well

try changing the fuel filter ,they rev up and conk out ,if its blocked :lol:

good point about the deisel filter. there is a bug that can breakdown deisel when its stood for a long time but thats more common on marine stuff. you say its a fresh tank so unlikely. try a derv filter iff not already .check for leaks, chewed pipes iff its been stored somwhere. supose the worst could be derv pump. good luck .alan.....
