Steyr-Daimler-Puch Pinzgauer

Haflinger (Haflinger Club)
In some ways the little Haflinger is the most capable of all 4x4s. The Austrian makers, Steyr-Daimler-Puch, went in the opposite direction to all other 4x4 manufacturers -- they made it as small and light as possible, and built in some of the best 4x4 engineering to be found.

Hope this helps.

There's the only official UK dealer up at Lealholm on the North Yorkshire Moors (Peter Ward)

He used to use one to deliver the milk & tow-start the 4x4 tractors :D

I recognise the Steyr name - Thinking either Lorries or Tractors.

Daimler everyone knows, but it's a new vehicle to me.

Knew it was Lorries, Looks a lot like a Marigius Deutsh (sp?) as well which became part of Iveco.

Hmm, a website for those almost determined not to like the Defender, having overlooked the basic fact that even th G wagon has to comply with the same emisions laws that all other manufacurers do.

Curiously blinkered view :?

Haflingers are becoming a bit rare in the UK now, but they used to wipe the floor at AWDC trials.  Even with small tyres, their size and weight as well as axle difflocks made them phenomenal performers.

They did have a bit of a tendency to fall over, but actually not alot more than the Suzukis and Land Rovers that they were competing against.

I have always wanted one.... and I still do!
