Title: Wiring In Autochanger
Post by: dew1911 on July 25, 2006, 16:16:26
Wondering if anyone can help.

The radio in my 110 has been dodgy since we bought it (Read: Only works when it wants to) so I managed to pick up a CD Autochanger off a Mate on the Forums.

Now the new one is a Kenwood, and the old one is a Pioneer IIRC, and the connections are totally different, and I am lost... All I really know is from the 110 the Orange line is constant Power and the Red is power off the Ignition.

WARNING: Each pic is 800-1100kb

Best to start from scratch if your unsure :roll: .

Green = speakers
purple = speakers
Red = live (ignition)
Yellow = live
orange = live
Blue = power ariel
Black = earth

Thats on my stereo :shock: .... i just wired yellow and red direct to battery, black to chassis, green to speakers and forgot about the rest.

Just remember... you definately need Red and another live wire connected for system to work... no real need to go to ignition.. but both do need connecting

Better still...... go to your local Halfrauds, into stereo section.... get chatting to one of the lads there and make enquiries as to who knows there stuff regarding car ICE...... offer him a couple of beer tokens to tell you what wire goes where

Bring it to Birmingham and I will sort it for 1 beer token!

Don't know enough to advise over the forum but done loads of headunits and changers for mates and never got one wrong yet!

If we not quite as far apart I may have taken you up on that offer! :lol:

For now I have a wiring diagram, so I'm going to have a go off that first.

Thanks,
David.

After close inspection of your pictures I would say that the harness is a bit ropey for the new head unit anyway.  Pop to halfords with the new harness (should unplug from the stereo) and see if they have a replacement.

If not have a look on ebay for a new one!

Halfords also do adaptor cables to go from one type of stereo unit to another
