Title: Squeaky wheel !!
Post by: landraver on July 12, 2006, 17:42:28
I need some advice fellas :D

The off-side rear wheel on the 90 (discs) has developed a heck of a squeak :(  & the hub & disc are getting very hot when driven :(  :( .
The brakes aren't sticking. It's more of a "rubber" kind of squeak anyway & seems to be coming from where the hub joins the axle. Can any Mud-clubbers tell me exactly what it is, before I rip it appart, so I can get the required parts while I've got transport

Cheers

Jeff

Sounds like a wheel bearing.

I don't think so, the wheel is solid when you do the usual test

It'll be the wheel bearing mate,a squeeking sort of sound is usually early signs of this especially if there is no brake trouble,if you leave it to long without attention it could get messy.

I'd plumb for a bearing too, since it's remarkably similar to how Roo went :)

anyhow, just to test how sad you lot are where's this from ?

Yep, i'd say wheel bearing too.
Had one squeaking not long after i got the 110, did all the usual tests but didn’t point to the bearing so I left it. 30 miles later the bearing collapsed leaving me with a hefty recovery bill. Still was worth it watching them load the 110 with a locked up front wheel on to a little 3 tone recovery truck.

      nice one!!

Yes it was the bearing, it just puzzled me as when they've gone before I've always had a very noticable "rumble", but had nothing like that this time (AFAIK).
Maybe its because its a soft top now & the "rumble" doesn't reverberate around in the back like its inside a bass drum??

Anyway thanks again to you all.

Mud-clubbers come up trumps again!! :D
