Is it possible to service them on a cherokee XJ, or even just re-grease them?

The problem is getting the old ones out not putting the new ones in. IMHO it's best to replace the hub.

Try some auto breakers for good used ones or order from www.4wd.com
Lighthouse will supply them but it's costly.
