Hi All,
I have a Discovery 2.0 ltr Mpi Petrol It go's very well but only giving me about 18 - 20 Mpg.
Can you put a 200tdi engine in this as i am told i will get about 35 mpg
As i do not want to sell this car because it is in very very good nick ...
Can anyone put me wise ......

Best I've managed is 32 - but rarely drops below 30

The concensus recently was 28 to 32 mpg if you don't hoof it. I'd say think about LPG instead, less work and the insurance doesn't clobber it as a modification. If you can get a really good TDi with the box and wiring loom then fine but TBH if it's from a car that's been broken for parts you've got to wonder if the engine isn't as bad as the rest of the car.

hi if you do fit a 200 tdi engine to it let me know as i am looking at doing the same to my mums as the head gasket keeps going on it :cry: 3rd time

Im on my second head gasket in about 18 months.
Decided that the next time mines goes its getting a 200tdi or a V8, favouring a V8 to save changing fuel tank and lines etc
Many have said to just get another car when I asked the same question months ago, but the rest of the motor is very good, just lacks a good engine.

that is the same as my mums better condition body wise than mine and my dads but the engine is CRAP
