Title: LT95 different versions?
Post by: ariane44 on June 09, 2006, 09:03:16
Hi!

Does anyone know if there are several versions of the LT95 Gearbox that cannot be exchanged for each other? To my knowledge there is only one version but when swapping the one from my Range Rover for a Stage One unit it felt like the main shaft went a few mm further into the clutch. Is that possible?

Cheers

did it fit alright? if the main shaft is a little longer but still splined that extra distance i dont suppose it matters.

Well, it fitted somehow. But the engine now makes funny noises (might be tappets, but the noise remains although oil pressure should be there) and the gearbox won't let me select anything but 3rd and 4th gear, so I assume it is somehow squeezed.

Just wonder if we built it a [!Expletive Deleted!] or if there were different versions of the main shaft. I am somewhat hesitating to remove it again to countermeasure with the original box...

Probably I'll just take out the engine. Want to do this anyway one day to re-do the V8 after 28 years of faultless service...

Cheers
