Title: Another Vitara Question!.
Post by: marjan on May 28, 2006, 11:28:39
Is the gearing system on the Vitara the same as a Samurai/413, in other words is there 2WD / 4WD High / 4WD Low ?.

Just bought a P reg Vitara on E bay for £800.

I'm going to fit a Procomp 1.5" lift ,so what is the maximum M/T tyre size I will be able to fit?.

Would I get 225/75 R15 All Terrains on with no Fettling?.

225/85 - 15 are 30" in diameter so will need some fettliing or cutting out the arches in other words :)

What about a body lift too?  It's really quite straightforward :)

Well I got 215/80R15 Colway M/T's fitted yesterday and the Bl**dy things catch the chassis on full lock so it looks like wheel spacers are the order of the day!  :?  :?  :? . Where can I get some from?.

Which wheels have you fitted the Colways to?

The standard Vitara rims have an awful off-set, they are "in"-set rather than off-set.  Standard SJ rims are better and 7" wide x 15" wellers are better still.

Look on Ebay for wheel spacers.  I've got 32mm spacers on mine, running 31's and no rubbing the chassis on full lock.

If you get stuck, I can get wheel spacers :)

Standard Vitara steel rims so I have ordered some wheel spacers. The wheel nuts are the domed type so I wonder if I may have problems with the stud length being too long on the spacer studs?.

If you ordered the spacers from Tim at Rhino Central then you'll be fine.  I have exactly the same spacers on my Vit.  The standard Suzuki wheel nuts look like they are too small to go on the stud extensions but they are fine :)

You'll get a much better width with some weller 7" x 15" wheels.  Keep an eye out for some :)
