Post by: jaws on May 12, 2006, 22:23:23
oh boy i hate electrics!long story so i'l make it quick.

1-wipers slow on my 413.then one day they stopped.
2-checked fuse,found ok
3-make sure motor is plugged in.found ok
4-removed motor,shorted out motor.motor works ok.plugged back onto sj,found inop!
5-check to see if motor is getting a feed, test light lights up in various positions.
6-buy new motor,(£30 not happy!)fit to sj still no good.

the stalk feels a ok,the washers work but the wipers are dead.any suggestions as i kinda like being able to wash wipe.....(the windows)

Sounds like the wiper mechanism may be seized as this happens quite a lot on these cars.

Wipers sieze where they pass thru screen frame. The  motor gets overworked, goes slower and slower, till it stops.
Free the wiper spindles off, grease them well, Isuspect you'll need a new wiper motor, and away you go :D

See my post about the stalks, if they are like the Vit it would be a good idea to check the stalks too.
