The back door on my L reg disco is getting really hard to open (again) the last time it just clearded itself, but today I had to use both hands and a damned good pull to get it to open.
Any ideas what could be causing this and how I get fix it?

have a look where it meets the door lock it may have dropped and be binding on the catch or the little slipper arangement just below it sits on?

Is it your lock that's stiff or your hinges?
If it's the lock, pop out the Green Oval on the back and have a good clean behind, then give it a good dose of WD40  Sticking locks is a common problem as they can get a lot of dirt in them without it being obvious, and they never get cleaned out properly.
If it's the hinges....... oil them

When mine was like this .I changed the top hinge which had wore away to almost nothing. That cured it for a while .I had to change the rear body crossmember which was rotten and the body was flexing.

if its the lock take the landrover badge out and spray it with wd40 or something like that but if its the hinges u might need 2 new ones
thx matty

I had the same problem, took the oval badge out and sprayed WD40 at the linkage.
It eased it for a few week but then it started again to the extent that the rear door wouldn't open.
Turned out to be a spring in the door lock, heard it's a common problem.
Bought a new spring off Ebay(came with fitting instructions).
Fitted it one evening after work, a bit fiddly but a year later and it's still working fine.

Heh.
Could have done with this thread earlier. Found myself in a public carpark, going hammer and tongs at my back door.
Never mind, I did what most people here have suggested, and poped out the green oval, and whaddya know? Full of crap behind there.
