need all your proffesional opinions!!!
I use the defender a lot for off road work, mainly in fields and soft roads etc. While driving in these conditions there are no strange noises, however when I go on harder rocky ground I have banging sounds which"feel" as though they are coming from the front end. Either the suspention or steering I am not sure. They are not very load bangs.
Any suggestions? :?:

Could be stones eing thrown up by the wheels. Its usually something simple. Do you have Mud Terrain tyres? They are renowned for this.
Also, make sure your shocker bushes are ok. When mine went on the 110, they were very sloppy, and banging, but only every now and then.

yes got mud terrains on but dont think it is them. the suspension bushes sound more like it. many thanks.

Does it clunk/knock if you drive forward a couple of metres then SLAM the anchors on?
-
dont know, will try that tonight and let you know. cheers

If it is a dull slow vibration sort of banging sound then check your radius arm bushes whilst you are at it.

Ive noticed with mine, if the fuel tank is half full or more.....I get a dull thud coming from under my feet/pedals every now and then :!: . From a standstill if i drive forward as if i'm pulling away from the lights then suddenly slam on the brakes after 2/3metres, I get the same thud...but it keeps thudding 2 or 3 times. Thats what makes me think its the fuel tank as there is nothing else what would repeatedly thud like that.
