On the Tools menu is a Folder Options with a restore defaults button, you can try that.

I havent used windows for ages (linux guy) so I cant be of any more help.

If you use XP then go to sysem tools and do a system restore, restore it back to a date slightly earlier than when the problem started. failing that you could try a program called Regvac that finds and fixes problems in your registry.

Got  regfix but that dont bring anything up. think i will have to delv deeper into the system. think it may of been a theme that was loaded on to it that has changed it. I have tryed changing it back to windows standard but no luck. i will keep at it it wont beat me. Big hammer is waiting :D
