you learn about race, taxes, human rights and communities etc.

you learn about race, taxes, human rights and communities etc.
You know, I'm now caught up in the dilema between thinking that it's a really good idea, for people to understand how we tax things, what human rights are, and take an interest in the political process.... and the overwhelming suspicion that the course will be none of these things and instead will be a namby pamby attempt to dispell social unrest with a token gesture instilling catchphrases such as "we're brothers" to try and paint over 3000 years of torture, slavery, warfare, invasions, assasinations and starvation (on both sides)

Hell if Bush and Blair can eat at a BBQ I'm dammed sure I'm not going to break a sweat if it's for a charity such as this. Forget the politics life is too short :)
Skategirl, given your thinking around July I'd suggest very early circulation of the date, it's peak holiday season so the likes of me will either already be on holiday or at work covering for others on holiday. Just a thought. :D

I read the above as who wants a b&Q car wash. I thought funny. Must be a typo. Must have meant a B&Q power washer or something.
then got very confused on another post where someone said "where it involves I'm there"
Ireally should do something about my reading!

Is citizenship the new name for community work. How many hours did you get.
Do you mind!!
Thats my 15 year old Daughter your talking about!!
She's just trying to raise some money for Great Ormand Street childrens hospital (where my youngest Daughter and myself have both been treated).
Instead of pointing fingers and firing cheap shots, why not add some constructive ideas?

My apologies Skatergirl. I didn't realise you was a young lady, as I did not notice your user name (otherwise the girl bit would have given it away) and absolutely apologize for subjecting you to my sense of humour.

another vote of support here. earlier the date the better.
now if you want great ideas... how about doing it at the MC third birthday bash?
what a celebration if every vechicle starts the sunday shinny and sparkling, and a few bob im sure for the great hospital

'Stean', Jakes comment could equally be aimed at you?
Unless the 'getting coats' implies you know it's a very silly comment?
Sorry Jake, too far for us to come & be rinsed down

Skatergirl its good of you to do this charity scheme and I hope all goes well. I have been considering other means of for your fund raising. The trouble with sited events means many of this forum would not be able to attend as the members live throughout the country.
An idea I have thought of for you and one that could all participate in would be to do an online quiz where members can pay a £1 to enter.
You would need to ask your father to assist you with a form of collecting the money. Maybe PAYPAL but then paypal would also take a cut unless you can negotiate with them.
As for the quiz you could have it e-mailed to each participant or how about this. Have the quiz on a web page but have the questions that would need ambiguous answers and to enter you pay your pound and if the answer is funny enough you can print on a results page.
