just been re watching some old top gears on sky, what a load of tosh (user friendly word ;) )
put a Jag 220 against F40 and Mclaren F1... then had the cheek to say that NOTHING could beat the F40 on acceleration and heres the key wording "for the price"..'scuse me but ANY of the big 4's 1000cc bikes from the last couple of years would kill a f40 on acceleration and top speed, and all for less than £10k...(hayabuse 0-60 2.1 sec top speed 208)
Now i know this is a Land rover forum, but as a fair few of us also own 2 wheelers (me included) just get me so mad that a pompous pillock like clarkson can also get away with saying that the new aston martin has a 'gorgeous exhaust sound that can be heard for up to 2 miles' and then in his next breath complain about bikers coming past his house with 'loud cans'...
someone ouht to point out to him that we all havent got bottomles bank balances, and so we buy what we an afford..point in question this morning - the new Disco 3.. starts at ONLY £27000....excuse me I didnt pay that for my house!! and then he moans that the TDV6 is too slow??
Anybody else got a gripe with the tw (insert vowel) t.......??

to be honest i never really took notice of the 'facts' he used to come out with, i just liked the analegies (cant spell  ) he came out with.

On the whole I find him funny, but he is a real bigot when it comes to bikes.
I ride a Kawasaki ZL600 Eliminator (currently off road because we have been too busy playing with the Landies). I haven't yet found a car it couldn't out accelerate up to 60. Its also still going strong at 21 years old - you can't say that for many cars.
Favourite game with boy racers used to be to accelerate quickly away from the lights up to the speed limit, but then stick to the speed limit. Boy racers would pass me, thinking they had 'won' just to get a nice picture from the speed cameras scattered liberally around our area.

boy racers are stupid and funny to look at.
but i was once one back in the day

NOTHING could beat the F40 on acceleration
What about the Blackpool machines;
Sagaris
Tuscan 'Red Rose'
T440
I'd reckon for the money they cost on a ££ - per - MPH basis (or acceleration - per - ££) the Sagaris will top any standard production road going car.
Sagaris
Cost = circa £50,000
Max Speed = 185mph +
0-60 = 3.7
0-100= 8.1
Full details (http://www.racinggreentvr.com/models/sagaris.asp)

oh & just to fuel the flames a bowler wildcat with the 5 litre TVR derived V8 will screw over a lambo on paper in a 0-60 race

i liked the top gear were the raced a challanger tank in a rangerover sport on sailsury planes

that black sport was in the showroom of my local main stealers just after that
-
cool bet it took some cleaning and prob needed boby work

I prefered when they raced the Kid on the mountain board against the Evo, which had to snake round the jumps and got hammered. Then they got a Wildcat which just took the jumps with him :D

There is not a lot that will touch 2 wheels for acceleration
When it comes to acceleartaion on 4 wheels then the kit car and low volume british manufactures are probably the ones to beat.
For instatnce the Ultima GTR
http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/
0-60mph ............................2.7 secs
0-100mph ..........................5.5 secs
0-150mph ........................11.8 secs
30-70mph ..........................2.0 secs
0-100mph-0 ........................9.8 secs
100mph-0 braking ..............3.6 secs
prices start from about £16k +VAT for a self build (not sure of the price for the turn key cars)
Or for a turn key sports car that cost less than £10k how about a lotus 7 style car?

I've hear rumours of these fitted with tuned Suzuki Hayabusa engines (up to 500 bhp :D )
When it comes to clarkson, the best thing to do is ignore his opinions if don't agree with them.
