Title: Gearbox shake rattle and roll

Hi

ive noticed a noise from my gearbox in my 200tdi disco.
the noise only happens in third or fifth when under accerleration.

the noise is the same as if you accidently put force on the gear stick when driving around, almost like it is rubbing on another gear that it should'nt be.

ive changed the oil to the difflock stuff and it is deffo quieter and all the uj's are ok. i noticed that i could move the front prop 25-30 degrees, could it be just wear?

other than that it works fine and other gears are quiet.

oh yeah almost forgot, when its in either third or fifth and making the rattle if i push the gear stick over to the left it stops.

And when at idle sitting in traffic there is a loud rattle but stops when i put the hand brake on, maybe connected.

my hi/lo lever used to move over slightly and rattle as though it was trying to rub against a gear was annoying but just used to keep knocking it back on the main lever it might just be wear and tear in the selector mechanism making it slack?

i think there are some springs that centralise the gearstick it could be them that are causing the rattle or could be the gearstick is loose might be worth pulling the boot off and checking?
