Title: Anyone know of any rangies for sale.
Post by: tjsj on February 17, 2006, 23:29:06
Hi everyone, right here goes, I have a secure offer on my sj of £500-550 and will have around 500 quid to spend on a new toy. I have been looking around and am thinking about a range rover diesel. It does not need to be roadworthy but does need to run and drive. Is this realistic or am I pushing it a bit. What do you think? Cheers

i'd say a range rover diesel for £500 is probably pushing it a bit, you can pick up a V8 for that sort of money but will be a bag of nails unless your really lucky

someone I know has just got one a 3.5 efi vogue E reg just off the road and looks very tidy it has also got a new top and bottom tailgate and a recon lt77 box. Oh and a cd player, that cost him 450. Sounds like more of a bargain than I thought.

a bargain indeed

the v8s are a fair it cheaper

the problem with the diesels is you'll be lucky to find a tdi lump for less than £750 in good nick as they seem to go for good money.

you might pick up a VM or some other converted diesel for £500 but you'll be lucky. however there are some bargains to be had out there at the moment

good luck

Steve

I wouldn't want to be putting a £450 RRc in fo the MOT, the sound of laughter is so dissheartening

Thing is with Diesels, the lump can fetch so much if you break it, even a VM can fetch £600 plus if it runs.

3.5 V8 Efi Range Rover.
Towed off motorway having lost drive.
LandyBabe bought it off recovery company for £350
I changed auto gear box filter and took it for an MOT
Only thing the man could find wrong was off-side headlight needed setting.
And it had a 10 stack Kenwood CD player in it

Bargain or wot  :?:  :?:  :?:  :?:  :?:  :?:  :?:  :?:

I paid £275 (although not diesel)for mine and after driving it for about 6 months I put it for its mot and it failed on

Windscreen wiper deteriorated
Brake pads on 3 out of 4 wheels needed replacing
Fuel cap rubber torn

so bargains are out there to find :D
