Hello all this is my new project!
Came with the kuhmo ventures has a 3inch lift and i have just bought a new 1300 samurai engine and box which will go in some time soon.
what do you all think?
also because of the longer shackles the diffs and props are now at the wrong angle how can i alter this ? any help appreciated cheers!
sorry about the size
-
Cool, keep us informed with the work wont you?
-
Yep sure will dude
Cant wait to get going round tixover etc. again its been a while now
-
Hey Phil nice truck, sorry can't help with the diff thing I didn't know the shackles would alter the diff angle :?
-
The longer shackles cause the diff to rotate as you are dropping the front of the spring.
Get some degree shims from la supertrux.
-
nice one dude, like the wheels and tyres :) look nice on there
-
I like the wheels on that mate. 8)
I'd get rid of that shackle lift and go for an SPOA - design it yourself if you have welding and fab skills (if you haven't why not learn). The big part of an SPOA is the drag link angle which can be sorted by either a bent "S" or "Z" drag link (not good, but will do at a pinch), a drop pitman arm (still not good as it strains your steering box) or a high steer conversion. The latter is the way to go but is far from easy and some folks go the whole hog and bring the track rod up over the top as well. I've not researched the effect on the Ackerman angle enough to do this one yet myself though!
If you decide to stick with the shackles then the castor correction shims are a must but make sure you get steel and not aluminium ones.
A transfer case from a 410 behind a 413 engine and gearbox will give you back your gearing if you run larger than stock boots. Anything taller than 33" boots and a "rock lobster" conversion could be in order.
A weber carb won't hurt either but they can flood a bit up steep hills. You could turn it through 180 degrees so that it floods coming downhill though, which is the lesser of the two evils in my opinion. Or better still, solder up the float bowl and re-bore it.

Thanks for the help all! i have just looked on la supertrux and have now got to find out the angle so out to the garage might put the gearbox in today dont no
