So, I got my nice new Colway AT tyres fitted today, they look great.

They are 235/70 R16 which according to my research shouldn't need any changes to the vehicle but on full left lock they rub on what I believe to be the radius arms.


I presume I need to adjust something to stop the wheels turning so much, the weird thing is full right lock goes less far so doesn't rub.

How much should a standard disco sterring wheel turn?

On left lock the wheel does 2 complete turns whereas left lock does one and a half turn.

Yes, it will be the tyre rubing on the radius arm.

To stop it you will need to adjust the lock stops,
to reduce the LH lock you need to adjust the RH
lock stop and vice versa...

The left arrow shows the lock nut and the right
arrow shows the bolt you screw out to reduce
the lock.

there are steering stops on the swivel housings on each side you will need to adjust if the tyres are fouling the radius arms
steering lock should be equal i believe but it may depend on whether someone before you has had the steering to bits and put the splined shafts back on a few splines out?

When you adjust the lock stops check to see if there is a shniy patch on the end of each one, if there isn't your steering box may be well off-centre, hence the different steering lock side to side.
